On the Valentine’s Day 1974, after I graduated from the Museum School, I decided to create some colorful heart-shaped sugar cookies so as to make a little extra money. These little edible artifacts were put up for sale in local galleries and boutiques where they would unexpectedly issue in a new career for me and a new bakery for Boston.
For this reason, each Valentine’s Day has a special place in my heart because it is a celebration of one more year in business. This Valentine’s Rosie’s will be 38 years old. It is a beautiful thing when your customers who have been coming to you for so long introduce future generations to the neighborhood bakery that they love and have frequently for years
It is with great joy that I celebrate this day each year. The fact that Rosie’s has survived for as long as it has speaks to the love and support of our customers. I cannot imagine Boston without Rosie’s and I hope that as the years go by, I will celebrate each February 14th with new insights for the business
So, in honor of Valentine’s Day, we have heart shaped cookies, heart-shaped Chocolate Orgasms, heart shaped Chocolate Deliriums and lots of layer cakes decorated for the occasion. Everyone deserves a sweet treat on Valentine’s Day.
